American Distribution’s Growth Through the COVID Pandemic

Most companies have struggled over the last few years through the COVID pandemic. As a result, many businesses have lost employees or even closed their doors. At American Distribution, we are blessed that we have grown through these difficult times and come out better for it; from new trucks to new drivers and a stronger emphasis on trucking, we have seen substantial growth over the last three years.

Since the COVID pandemic began, truck drivers have been responsible for moving 72% of domestic freight throughout the country. Our drivers are a large part of the group doing almost three-fourths of the freight exchange in this country.

Our truck drivers are the core of our business, and we are the company we are today because of them. In 2019, we had three drivers and a handful of trucks. At the beginning of 2022, we have 20 trucks, three owner-operators, and dozens of drivers. As many people struggle to keep their job through the current pandemic, we have developed a way to ensure that our drivers can. Their schedules are largely flexible, based on the terms of their job titles. Regional drivers are home every weekend, and over-the-road (OTR) drivers are on the road for two weeks at a time and then spend the same amount of time at home afterward. We also offer many unheard-of benefits today, especially in the trucking industry. Our drivers get paid weekly, receive paid holidays and vacation time, medical insurance, a 401k, and so much more. We value our drivers, which is a large part of how we let them know. They are our family, and we treat them as such.

We take such pride in our work that we only use the best of the best. More than three-fourths of our fleet are 2022 models, and we are replacing the rest later this year. All our trucks are 53-foot dry vans, meaning our drivers don’t haul anything hazmat or oversized; they focus solely on dry goods in industries such as construction and food grade. We value our drivers’ safety, so we only haul safe inventory.

We are proud every day of the advancements we’ve seen over the last few years, and we are delighted to have an incredible group of men and women working for us. As essential workers, our drivers have done so much good for this country through the pandemic, and we know they will continue to do so far after it’s over. We’re always looking for new drivers to join our team. If you’re interested, call us at 865-262-9300. We look forward to continuing to grow and improve, and we know that the right people aid in that. Here’s to an even better 2022!
